Who should inquire?

The Curriculum

The Foxfire Jr. WUI Workforce Readiness Program curriculum is a combination of knowledge and expertise. Broken down, it requires expertise from:

  • Wildland Firefighting
  • Fire Science
  • Community Risk Reduction
  • Emergency Management and Preparedness
  • Behavioral Health
  • Physical and Nutritional Wellness

The curriculum is designed to be an easy to implement, following a plug-and-play model. Therefore, it can be implemented in a variety of ways, by a variety of people. This can include paired/mentor teaching, community teaching, etc. Foxfire will work with you to set up a method of delivery for implementation that makes sense for your community. One of our main objectives is helping create programs that are sustainable through administrative changes.

Exception- All NWCG curriculum MUST be taught by those qualified as an instructor through the NWCG.

Wildland Firefighters

Wildland firefighters would be the ideal instructors for this program. This would also provide them additional financial opportunities to supplement income while not fighting wildfires.

However, you have to meet the NWCG requirements for delivering the coursework you will be instructing.

NWCG Requirements

Teachers

The curriculum was developed by former teachers and current experts in education. We know what a powerful asset teachers can be to any program! Even better, would be the perfect teaching partner for a fire department that is interested in implementing this program!

Prevention and Planning Professionals

Experts currently working in wildfire prevention and planning can be an additional vital asset for curriculum delivery. Those working with prevention and planning organizations currently are free to use their own curriculum, as long as it meets with the current recommended best practices and standards for reducing risks. This will include the Foxfire curriculum identified standards.

Mental Health Professionals

Mental health professionals would be excellent partners to help implement the PTSD early prevention/intervention activities in the curriculum.

Fire Scientists, Biologists, Water Experts, Etc.

Foxfire WUI is always looking for experts from the science community that can help deliver engaging lessons!
